As a toddler, I ran around the house singing to records and the radio. My mother saw a newspaper ad for violin lessons and decided to have me start violin instead of piano - I was 3-1/2 years old. I studied the Suzuki method for 14 years under Joan Rooney in Port Washington until I graduated from high school. During this time, I performed as a soloist, as well as with a group of violinists, for various events, concerts, benefits and competitions. Among my accomplishments were performances at the Performing Arts Center and Pabst Theatre in Milwaukee, a dinner presentation for Itzhak Perlman at the Ritz in Chicago, and an appearance at the Pfister Hotel for the St. Louis Cardinals during the '82 World Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. We also performed on "Dialing for Dollars" on TV-12 and "Kids World" on TV-4.
After high school, I went to college at UW-Oshkosh, where I earned my bachelor's degree in Business Administration. While in Oshkosh, I continued violin lessons at the university with Klara Fenyo-Bahcall. Klara had so many students that she asked some of her advanced students to help her out, which is how I began teaching. Oshkosh offered me the first full-time opportunity to play in an orchestra - in fact, two of them. I was concertmaster all four years for the University Orchestra. I also received a scholarship and performed with the Oshkosh Symphony Orchestra all four years. While there, I also joined a student string quartet, which performed at banquets and wedding ceremonies.
After moving back to the area and getting married, I continued teaching lessons and joined the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra, where I was Principal 2nd Violinist for 20 years. I have performed with Cooley String Quartet, Sheboygan Symphony String Quartet & Jubilate String Quartet in addition to many other ad hoc groups. I am currently a member of the Parlor Lights Trio, which primarily focuses on performing for special events, such as community events, holiday parties, company outings, wedding receptions and family celebrations.
My husband and I have four adult children and we live on a farm outside of Cedar Grove, where we grow crops and raise steer. We also have 5 indoor kitties and an English Shepherd outside (Ruby). I am the office manager at Principal Financial in Grafton and volunteer with several organizations as well as serving on many church committees. In my spare time, I love to scrapbook and do crafting of all sorts.
I truly enjoy playing for weddings and have over thirty-five years of ceremony experience in the southeastern Wisconsin area.
