Q: Do you require a deposit?
A: No deposit necessary. However, please return the signed contract as soon as possible. Payment is required two weeks prior to the wedding.
Q: Can you accompany a vocalist?
A: Depending on the song, sometimes I can play a harmony or descant along with a vocalist, but the violin is not an “accompaniment”-type of instrument. Also, I may need to charge for extra rehearsal time and possible music arranging.
Q: Can you play our favorite song, even though it’s not on the music list?
A: If it’s a song that I do not have, you will need to locate the sheet music. If it is not in the right format, I can do that for you for an extra charge (see rates). I need to approve all song choices, since not all songs are appropriate for violin.
Q: Do you play outdoors?
A: Yes, if the conditions are right. I need to be protected from the elements, primarily sun, fog and rain. My violin is made from wood, so it is very susceptible to the weather. I reserve the right not to perform outdoors. If you are having an outdoor wedding, please be sure to have alternate plans in case of inclement weather.
Q: Do you attend the dress rehearsal?
A: No, I will not attend the dress rehearsal. I will need a contact person on the day of the wedding for final details, such as a signal to begin the processional.
Q: Do you need a microphone?
A: I usually do not use a microphone. However, if you have one available and would like me to use it, please just let me know.
